Dr Stefano Filletti graduated with a Bachelor of Laws, Diploma of Notary Public and Doctor of Laws from the University of Malta. He furthered his studies in international law and law of the seas at the International Maritime Law Institute (IMO) where he was awarded a Masters of Law Degree with distinction. As a Chevening Scholar he read law at the University of Oxford where he was awarded a Masters of Law Degree in Criminal Law (M.Jur) with distinction. He was also awarded a Doctor of Philosophy Degree (Ph.D.) from the University of Malta.
Dr Stefano Filletti is a resident lecturer at the University of Malta in Criminal law and also a visiting lecturer at the International Maritime Law Institute (IMO). He is the co-editor of the New Journal of European Criminal law published by Intersentia, co-editor of the Mediterranean Journal of Human Rights published by the Faculty of Laws at the University of Malta, andco-editor of the journal Law and Practice published by the Chamber of Advocates (Malta).
Dr Stefano Filletti is in private practice and has held various positions of trust. He also acts as an advisor to both private and public entities and has held various posts. He Heads the Maltese Delegation to the Council of Europe - European Committee on Crime Problems (CDPC). Dr Filletti is also the Head of Department of Criminal Law within the Faculty of Laws at the University of Malta.

Senior Associate
Dr Maurice Meli is a Senior Associate within Filletti & Filletti Advocates, assisting both institutional and private clients in all contentious matters in the areas of commercial, employment and company law, with special focus on the drafting, negotiating and eventual litigation of a wide range of commercial agreements. In addition, Maurice advises clients on all matters related to distributed ledger technology as well as financial crime.
Maurice joined Filletti & Filletti Advocates as a legal trainee in July 2014. He graduated with a Doctor of Laws degree from the University of Malta in December 2016 presenting and defending a thesis entitled, ‘Trials in Absentia: Erosion of the Rights of the Accused? A Comparative Study’. In 2017, Maurice was admitted to the Bar Association of Malta as well as appointed an Associate within the firm.

Dr Martina Cuschieri is an Associate within Filletti & Filletti Advocates. Her main area of practice is litigation within both criminal and civil law. She is actively involved in various aspects dealing with contentious matters in the areas of commercial law, property law and debt collection. Martina also assists the firm with various matters related to arbitration and alternative forms of dispute resolution.
Martina joined Filletti & Filletti Advocates as a legal trainee in February 2019. She graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) Degree from the University of Malta in December 2018 presenting a Term Paper entitled ‘Family Violence - The Perpetrator's and Victim's Perspective in cases of Sexual Offences’. She graduated with a Master of Advocacy in 2019 and was awarded her warrant to practice as an Advocate before the Courts of Malta in 2020.

Dr Nicole Galea is an Associate within Filletti & Filletti Advocates and is actively involved in litigation within both Civil and Criminal Law. Her main areas include Property Law and Human Rights. Additionally, she also assists the firm with various matters related to arbitration and alternative forms of dispute resolution.
Nicole graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) Degree in 2018 from the University of Malta presenting a Term Paper entitled ‘A legal analysis of the minor’s right to consent and refuse medical treatment under the Health Act’. She graduated with a Master of Advocacy in 2019 and was awarded her warrant to practice as an Advocate before the Courts of Malta in 2020. She completed her pupillage with a law firm wherein she gained experience in Litigation, Corporate law, Employment law and Residency Law.

Megan joined Filletti & Filletti Advocates in 2024 as an intern. She graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) Degree from the University of Malta in 2024 with a Term Paper entitled “An Analysis of Short Selling in the European Union with Particular Focus on the COVID-19 Pandemic”. Furthermore, she graduated with a Master of Advocacy degree in 2025 and was awarded her warrant to practice as an Advocate before the Courts of Malta in 2025 .
